RemNote’s interface is available in multiple languages, translated with help from our community. You can switch languages at any time, and AI features can write in a language different from your interface language.
Changing the interface language
Go to Settings > Language and choose your language from the Interface Language drop-down. RemNote will restart to apply the change.
Note: If you choose a language that reads right to left, such as Arabic or Hebrew, RemNote switches the interface to right-to-left automatically. If you'd rather it didn't, or you want right-to-left layout with a left-to-right interface language, you can override the choice with the Right-to-Left Mode toggle further down the same settings page.
Setting the language the AI writes in
RemNote's AI features follow their own language setting, because the language you want to read the interface in often isn't the language you want to study in. If you're taking a Spanish literature course, for instance, you might keep RemNote's menus in English while having the AI generate your flashcards in Spanish.
To set it, go to Settings > Language and choose a language from the AI Generation Language drop-down. Anything the AI writes or reformats for you, including generated flashcards and the AI Tutor's replies, will then come back in that language.
If your language isn't listed
The list of interface languages grows as native speakers volunteer to help build them, so if yours isn't there yet, you can be the one who adds it. Read Help Us Translate RemNote to find out how the process works and how to get in touch with our translation engineer.
The same page is where to start if you've found a translation that reads awkwardly or is plainly wrong. We'd rather hear about it than leave it there.
Other language settings
Settings > Language holds a handful of other options that are worth knowing about but that most people can leave alone:
Spell Check lets you turn RemNote's spell-checking on or off. Which language it checks against is decided by your browser or operating system rather than by RemNote, so if your notes are being underlined in the wrong language, read Spell-Check Languages for how to fix it.
Dates and Times controls how dates are displayed throughout RemNote, how times inserted with
/timeare formatted, and whether your weeks start on Monday or Sunday.
