RemNote offers many keyboard shortcuts to make working with tables easier.

General navigation

Pressing the arrow keys moves between the table's cells. While in this state, you can use the following shortcuts:

  • Tab: Select the cell on the right, or the first cell of the next row if on the last column.

  • Shift+Tab: Select the cell on the left, or the last cell of the previous row if on the first column.

  • Shift+Arrow Keys: Select multiple cells.

    • Tip: This is useful when you want to copy the contents of a specific group of cells.

  • Alt+Up or Down Arrows (Opt+Up or Down Arrows on a Mac) while on a cell in the Name column: Moves the row up or down.

    • Note: this also works when you have multiple Name cells or entire rows selected.

  • Enter: Activate the typing cursor on the currently selected cell.

    • You can also just start typing any character, but in this case, any previous text that was in that cell will be deleted.

  • Delete on a name cell: Deletes the entire row.

  • Delete on a property cell or Ctrl+Shift+Backspace (Cmd+Shift+Delete on a Mac): Deletes the cell's contents.

Editing table cells

While your cursor is active in a table cell, you can use the following shortcuts:

  • Esc: Deactivates the typing cursor and selects the current cell.

  • Enter: Add a new bullet inside that cell (doesn't work in the "Name" column).

  • Alt+Enter: Insert a new table row below.

  • Ctrl+Shift+Backspace (Cmd+Shift+Delete on a Mac): Erases all contents of the current cell, or, if it has multiple bullets, erases the content of the current bullet.

  • Tab: Moves the cursor to the cell on the right. or to the first cell of the next row if on the last column.

    • If the cell has multiple bullets, then this will indent the current bullet instead.

  • Shift+Tab: Moves the cursor to the cell on the left or to the last cell of the previous row if on the first column.

    • If the cell has multiple bullets, then this will outdent the current bullet instead.

Moving and deleting columns

While moving between the table's cells with the arrow keys, if you move up from a cell in the first row, you will select the entire column. In this state, you can use the following shortcuts:

  • Alt+Left or Right Arrow (Opt+Left or Right Arrows on a Mac): Moves the selected column left or right.

  • Delete when a property column is selected: Deletes the contents of all visible cells in the column.

  • Delete when the Name column is selected: Deletes all visible rows.

Global shortcuts that also work in tables

Besides the ones mentioned in this article, most other shortcuts also work while interacting with a table, including the Omnibar and /-menu. Remember, everything is a Rem, including each cell, column, and row in a table! See Keyboard Shortcuts for more information.
